The aim of this journal is the advancement and dissemination of microbiological knowledge in the general, environmental (e.g. water, soil, cultural heritage sites), ecological, applied (e.g. food and industrial) fields.

The aim of this journal is the advancement and dissemination of microbiological knowledge in the general, environmental (e.g. water, soil, cultural heritage sites), ecological, applied (e.g. food and industrial) fields.
The methodology is usually derived from the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, biotechnology and taxonomy.
The organisms covered include bacteria, fungi, microalgae, and bacteriophages.
Microbiological topics applied to clinical and phyto-pathological fields are not included in the aims of this journal.
