The Journal of Geophysical Research-Biogeosciences focuses on the interactions between biology, hydrology, geology, chemistry, and physics within the Earth system. Biogeosciences explores the interface between life science and Earth system science, as well as biogeochemistry, geobiology, and biogeophysics processes across multiple spatial and temporal scales. Biogeosciences research relies on various tools including theoretical, experimental and field-based studies, models, and data synthesis. JGR-Biogeosciences will consider the following types of manuscripts:
- Original research, reviews, or commentaries that advance our understanding of biogeosciences in terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems, as well as extreme environments;
- Data or methods manuscript introducing new and innovative techniques and/or approaches that enable significant scientific advances within the biogeosciences; and
- Model description/development papers if they express why and how the model differs from its predecessors, what improvements or new opportunities are offered by the new model, and how these improvements advance process-level understanding in the biogeosciences.
