Since its inception in 1965, Carbohydrate Research has gained a reputation for its high standard and wide scope which includes all aspects of carbohydrate chemistry and biochemistry. Articles published in the journal cover sugars and their derivatives (also cyclitols, and model compounds for carbohydrate reactions), oligo- and polysaccharides, nucleosides, nucleotides, and glycoconjugates. These systems are considered from the viewpoints of:
' chemical synthesis; the study of structures and stereochemistry; reactions and their mechanisms; isolation of natural products; physicochemical studies; macromolecular dynamics; analytical chemistry; biochemistry (biosynthesis, metabolism, degradation, structural and functional biochemistry, enzyme mechanisms, glycosidases and glycosyl transferases, etc.);
' action of enzymes; immunochemistry; technological aspects.
The journal includes normal length research papers, perspectives, notes, rapid communications and book reviews together with notices of meetings concerned with carbohydrates.
